Gradient Lips Tutorial

Finally, it's my final appreciation post.

If you notice, actually it's supposed to be "How I Stud My Stuffs" but unfortunately I've been very busy and I didn't even have time to stud orz..

Since I've prepared this tutorial before Mock exam, at least I could still post this on time. And I think the Etude House HAUL is enough despite having 2 separated posts.

Gradient Lips also known as Korean Ombre Lips refers to a make up look that focuses on lips, with few layers of color thus creating gradient/ombre shades. 
Nowadays this look has been a trend among asian girls, which is known famous from Ulzzang models, and K-Pop idols. 
Such smaller yet plump lips can be achieved by creating gradient lips. This can be done in a few simple and easy steps. 
(Even Melrose who's not even a pro can do this, she can not even use make up btw)

You're going to need : 

❥ Lip balm

❥ Lip concealer or nude lipstick

❥ Lip tint / stain

❥ Lipstick

❥ Lip gloss (clear / shiny)

I use these products to create my gradient lips :

❥ Baby Lips "Energizing Orange" (lip balm) by Maybelline NY

❥ Baby Lips Color "Cherry Kiss" (colored balm) by Maybelline NY

❥ Kissful Lip Care lip concealer by Etude House

❥ Dear Darling lip tint by Etude House

❥ Vivid Pop Stick "Just Dance" (crayon lipstick) by Etude House

❥ Nude lip gloss by Caring Colours

There are some methods to create gradient lips, by using :

❣ Lip concealer + lip tint + gloss

❣ Lip concealer + lipstick + gloss

❣ Lip concealer + lip tint + lip stick + gloss

In this tutorial, I'm doing all of them which is the last method (look the same tho).

Here's my gradient lips tutorial :

1. Begin with moist & smooth bare lips. Apply regular lip balm or chapstick as the base, so your lips won't get cracked / chapped.

2. Apply lip concealer or nude lipstick that matches with your skin color. It's better to add the concealer and spread them gently with your fingers rather than glazing directly.

3. The lip concealer will make your lips dry instantly. If it appears creating dead skin, I suggest you to apply lip balm again, or you can use the colored lip balm to add a little color.

After applying lip concealer, add a few drops of lip tint / stain on top and bottom lips. Dot in the inner part of the lips. Don't add too much tint, 3-5 dots are fine.

4. Spread the lip tint evenly across the lips. Use your finger or cotton bud to spread and blend the lip tint outward.

5. After it's evenly spread, you can add shiny lip gloss once you're satisfied with your look.

But, since the color is barely seen (not gradient enough) in my first trial, so I'm gonna continue with some other steps.

6. Once you've added lip tint and spread it evenly, add another dots of lip tint if necessary. However, too much lip tint would create stained patches on your lips.

Then another way is by applying lipstick on the same parts. Again, apply the lipstick slightly in the inner and outer part of lips. Spread it outwards, by using your finger or a lip brush.

If you made the outer part apparently the same tone as the inner part, you can add nude lip gloss on the outer part for lighter shade. Blend it inwards until you've created a gradient look.

7. For people with full (big) lips, you might want to create some shades to make your lips appear to be smaller. Apply the shades by using a dark colored pencil lipstick, or alternatively eyebrows pencil and even eye shadows. Add in a small amount on the corner of your lip line, draw, and blend it well (better using one finger).

8. Finally, add shiny clear lip gloss on top of your gradient lips.

And you're done!

Apparently my lips are not shiny here.. lol 

That's all and you have the gradient lips makeup look!
