Time flies so fast, doesn't it?
Term 3 has just passed.. Term 4 is coming, so is IGCSE..
If I think through it, this month is going to be short and I can
feel April is coming already. Despite my crazy (sandwiched) schedule
for the next 4 weeks. Last week of time trials, mock exams, term 3
break (STUDY break), mock exams again. That's from my school, not yet
my other schedule as my relatives and friends' birthdays which I might
not be able to attend. #SAD
Well,
I don't know if I'm going to study hard or what. Over the past 6 weeks of time
trial, I have never studied any subjects at home. I barely focused on my
studies at school, and starting to lost motivation. Some teachers alr
scolded me for being less attentive (especially in Geo classes HAHA).
Below are some ilustrated scenes that happened recently :
*Note : violet is Melrose, red is teacher
Geo class :*me sleeping in Geo class, always had past paper to do**eyes closed, head on the table, while holding pencil 'writing'*"Melrose are you doing your work?""Yes." *literally not moving*"Miss, why is she sleeping?""THAT'S RACIST"In Combined Science class :*le rushing for Bio class**getting the books from my locker in 4B2**CS teacher was talking to her students*"I know that the questions are very.."*me still in rush*"shit (I'm so late)""who said that?""Melrose did you just say 'shit'?"
*everyone staring back at me**literally didn't realize*"what..?! I didn't even say anything.."*suspecting someone else*then I ran away to Bio class..
Econs class :
"Melrose why you look so un-motivated ah?"
"I'm tired sir"
"Tired from what?"
"Life."
"You are 16"
Econs extra class after school :
Planned to hang out at PIM with Jiwan & Nat
*waiting for them to finish*
that moment when they finished..
"Yeay! Thank you sir!!"
"Why is Melrose thanking me, she didn't even ask me anything."
New terminology for SOL : Sucky Ordinary Life (originally Standard of Living).
LOL
but I don't always sleep in classes. I do realize that I'm not gonna
study at home, so occassionally I would really try my best to pay attention in
class and focus on time trials. Even though most of the time I also sleep during time trials and mock exams.
So far a week of Mock exam has passed already. I never studied at home and did not study at all. Fortunately, I still can do my papers and barely survive. Don't judge me as a smart person because I'm lazy as hell, probably I was just lucky.
Whenever someone tried to ask me a question related to any subjects, I be like :
Whenever someone tried to ask me a question related to any subjects, I be like :
"You're going to fail if you ask me."Well, to be honest, there are times when I feel like I really need to study. Actually I want to study hard, I was planning to make good notes, doing past papers, studying Math, and other productive stuffs during weekends and school break. Sometimes I do have the desire and faith to study hard.
What I actually do at home?
Unfortunately words can be bullshits, so as you can see all those high expectations are GONE. I should be doing something for my studies but here I am, wandering around the internet, blogging, making YT videos, tumblr, and blablabla.. Somehow I have enough time to write this blog post better than studying.
But what can I say.. Mock exams are just like time trials, duh they are questions taken from past papers. I didn't study from the books, I just revise through my time trials and the other past papers which are all similar. Eventually you will get familiar with the questions, then you need to learn from your mistakes.
However, DO NOT FOLLOW my bad habits. There are people who don't study at home yet they always pay attention in class. Most importantly studying, practising, and revising at home are necessary in order to get better results.
Here's what I always have in mind :
✓ Study hard, but not too hard.
✓ Set goals (I wanna get distinctions).
✓ If you have any doubts or questions, don't be afraid to ask others and better to see the teacher directly.
✓ It's okay to make mistakes, they actually remind you not to make the same mistakes again.
✓ Work hard, stay humble.
✓ Do good then the good things will follow.
✓ Stay positive, everything happens for a reason, always take the bright side and move on.
✓ Believe yourself that you can reach your goals and hope for the best.
✓ When you're feeling down, give it a break for a while, but never give up!
I might be lazy, but I wont let myself fail. I might put less effort than others, but I always try to make the best of myself.
Anyway,
my time trial results are not bad actually. They are okay and gradually
increasing(?). Except for Bio which I'm not taking in JC. Thank God, I managed to get A in ESL, Business, Geo, Econs and I didn't expect that my name is not listed in any of the remedial classes (which I thought that I'm gonna be in Math & Bio).
One thing that really make me amused is Math. That subject who has been my biggest enemy and the thing I hate the most in this entire universe since 1998 is starting to catch my affection. I know this sounds crazy, but somehow I'm starting to find that Math is interesting. It's actually easy yet always challenging. The key is to understand the concepts and the questions.
Even though I haven't reached any As (for Math), but after 4 years for the first time in forever, I managed to get a B in Math!!
Please understand how happy I am despite being a big failure in Mathematics. HAHAHAHA
Yea..
Maybe I feel a little bit motivated.
My goal is to get distinctions, having my face in that Top Performers banner, make my parents and myself proud.
Even if I didn't get 5 A (distinctions), I would still be proud of myself for trying my best.
Marks or grades don't always matter, but what's more important is about the understanding and the effort you make.
It's gonna get harder before it gets easier, but it will get better, you just gotta make it through the hard stuff first.
Study until you feel like crying, but in the end it all will be worth it.
One of the best feeling is when you feel good after doing an exam, knowing that you have done your best.
Hmm, seems like now it's time to work a little harder..
